Indira (Pridarshani) Gandhi, the first Indian Lady Prime Minister, was born at Allahabad. She was the only child of Jawharlal Nehru and took active participation in freedom fight by forming ""Vanar Sena"" (a team of young detectives). She lead India in a successful war against Pakistan to seperate East and West Pakistans and establish the nation of Banglades

2/1/1901	Six language penel were started on the Rs. five dinomination. These notes were single sided and the back side could be used for accounting purposes. The six languages were Urdu, Bengali, Telugu, Kaithi, Kannada and Tamil. The paper used for printing was white hand made and moulded.
6/18/1978	The Karakoram Highway, linking Gilgit in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir with Sinkiang in China, is opened.
6/19/1990	NDC approves approach paper to the Eighth Plan.
7/21/1988	Indian National Satellite (INSAT-1C) launched. This is operational multi-purpose communication and meteorology satellite. It served for only one and a half years. It was launched by European Ariane launch vehicle Ariane-3.
